Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training

Keeping First Aid in Mind

Welcome, my name is Deborah Sheppard and I provide Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to individuals, groups and businesses.

We all know how important it is to look after our physical health, but what about our mental health?

If you break an arm, it’s easy for others to see that you need help.  But what if it’s your mind that’s broken?

Who sees that?  Who’s there to help?

I’d love it to be you!

What is Mental Health First Aid?

It’s a skill that preserves life, helps prevent mental health issues from becoming more serious, provides comfort to those in distress and promotes recovery.
Often, the person who is mentally ill is unable to ask for help or recognise their illness. A fully trained mental health first aider can spot the signs, ask the right questions and has the knowledge, confidence and ability to help.

Who should be doing it?

Everyone, from young adults, parents, care-givers and teachers to business owners, HR directors and public/private sector employees. All you need is the skill to recognise when something is wrong, and the capability to help someone find the right road to recovery.
Each year, 1 in 4 of us will experience some sort of mental ill health. How amazing would it be if you knew what to do? After all, it could be a family member, friend or a work colleague who needs help!
